It took 10 months - some pictures....

These forums have been invaluable. Thanks to all for sharing your pictures,
experiences, and advice. We're 99% done, and here's what it looks like...

P.S. - I'm LOUSY with the camera

Here's what we used:

Ultracraft cabinets - cherry wood - amber stain - shaker wide style (w/blumotion and full-ext.)

Emerald pearl 'limited' granite (very unique when you really see it)

Kindred large sink and prep sink

Hamat faucet (large sink) and Jado for prep sink

Bosch ovens and Micro, Miele cooktop (very thin, so we can use drawer underneath), Futuro hood (yes, it works great), SS panels for older Subzero (only thing we kept), and F/P Dish-Drawers (we LOVE them).

Favorite things we did:

- all the pull-outs, pot & pan organizers, organizers, etc...

- mosaic backsplash tile

- Futuro moon crystal hood

- creating a bar 'peninsula' to separate eating area from family room

- raised ledge at back of island

- 2 sinks

- glass doors for cabinets with pretty things

- using mini-bricks of our floor tile on a structural column and the wall at rear of large center island.
- Used THS forums for advice, research, venting of frustrations, and general hand-holding!

It looks great, what I can see of it--tumbled marble running bond on the back of the island and on the backsplash?

 o sorry!

Sorry for the error - I'll fix it after the kids go to bed...

I saw the pictures just fine. Your kitchen is gorgeous! I love the hood.

Gorgeous cabs and granite! Love your pulls - they look like the ones we're getting! We're at the very beginning - the whole interior of the house has been gutted, and I have no back wall and part of the roof is already gone - we're practically starting from scratch!

smooya - what a beautiful kitchen! And I love your view, too!

May I archive your kitchen by adding it to the Finished Kitchens blog at http://finishedkitchens.blogspot.com/ ?
And do you have any details to share with us about your cabinets, appliances, fixtures, etc?
Thank you!

Very lovely kitchen....but this kitchen took 10 months to complete??? Did you do it yourself? 10 months is way too long if you did not do it yourself. Did you have a KD? I guess I am getting nervous..since we are starting ours on Monday and there is no way I will tolerate 10 months of work going on...no way!

Very nice! LOVE the view. Florida?

o RE: It took 10 months - some pictures....

Yes, South Florida.

It took 10 months because 1/2 of the space was a brand new addition. We enclosed part of our patio to expand the kitchen and family room, and then gutted the old space. We started last October and then had one hurricane after another. Everything was delayed. Labor and materials are very scarce here now because of all the work being done in the devastated parts of the state.

The only upside to the very long process was that it gave us plenty of time to research, shop, and reconsider what we wanted for appliances, fixtures, and finishing materials.

What a beautiful kitchen! Everything works so well together, congratulations on a great design. (And who's the little cutie pie I spotted in your photos? What a pretty smile!)

o RE: Here's what we used

Beautiful! Just beautiful.

o RE: Here's what we used

Your kitchen is really beautiful. I love your "pretty things" in your cabinets, so colorful. Where did you get them? Also, can you tell me about your backsplash, where your purchased, etc. Thanks.

o RE: Here's what we used

Very nice! You must be so thrilled with it! Love all the colorful glassware. That view is really pretty, too :)

o RE: Here's what we used

How do you like your Hamat? Ours is waiting to be installed. Your tile is just beautiful. I'd seen basketweave before, but not installed. Seeing your backsplash really changed my mind about it being too busy. Enjoy your gorgeous kitchen!

o RE: Here's what we used

the backsplash is Jeffrey Court- Ida pattern, purchased through Expo. (see link below)

Scotland - we love the Hamat faucet and the backsplash is definitely NOT too busy. Everyone goes nuts (in a good way) when they see it!
