It's a bit late but here are some photos of my kitchen. I couldn't have done the project without all of your help. We are really enjoying it- everything works.

Frigidaire electric stove
Bosch Dishwasher
Kahrs Maple Floor
Silestone counter in Silver Nube
KWC faucet
Dahl tile backsplash
Stainless shelves over sink from Hold Everything

Very sleek and sophisticated looking...Love the way you have used color on the walls and that way cool KA mixer. I also love your stools with this kitchen. Good job!! |

Yes- Joseph Eichler sold many of these homes in Northern California in the 1950, 60's and even 70's. It's a very open floor plan which was new and different back then. It was also designed with a mid-century look including walls of windows that extend floor the ceiling- an indoor/outdoor feel. Remodeling the kitchen can be tricky. Some owners remodel to the original style including laminate countertops and vinyl tile. I decided to use more of a modern contemporary style a la Terrance Conran (he has many books). It's the sleek European look. I couldn't afford the European cabinetry so following the advice of many here, I used Ikea which I am very happy with. The trick is to make it functional but minimal and not too fancy. |
