Details:
  • Cabinets: Crown Point of New Hampshire. The color is antique white. I painted my baseboards and trim the same color and the corresponding color which is a good match is Benjamin Moore Lancaster Whitewash. The latches are very easy... you do have to actually turn them but it is effortless. I really like the look. It was a pricey upgrade so I only put them on the upper cabinets.
  • Countertops: Ocean Green granite from Gerrity Stone in Woburn, Mass. I had them honed. This was a soapstone alternative as the soapstone slabs I saw didn't appeal to me and I chickened out on the patina issue and ultimately didn't think I could handle dings / scratches etc.
The butcherblock countertop is from Grothouse Lumber out of Pennsylvania (which I found from other GW'ers... THANKS a million... I love this probably more than anything else!!). It is end grain brazilian cherry. I opted for the food friendly finish so I will have to maintain it with mineral oil. I plan to chop right on it... haven't done that yet, will probably be a little while before I have the gumption to do so.
The countertop width on either side of the range is 24".
  • Backsplash: Walker Zanger Gramercy Park 2" x 6" field tiles in Bone China. They have a crackle finish.
  • Hood: Rangecraft out of New Jersey. The style I went for is called Taconic.
  • Floor: random width quartersawn White Oak with a stain.
  • Sink: Elkay Avado. It was the biggest I could get for my sink base size which couldn't be bigger than it is for a variety of reasons. It is 21" x 15" x 8" deep.
  • Faucet: Rohl LS57LSTN Modern Architectural Side Lever Pulldown High Spout Kitchen Faucet in polished nickel. Purchased from Home and Stone.
  • Chandelier: Visual Comfort TOB5003 Thomas O'Brien BRYANT LARGE CHANDELIER. Purchased through New York Lighting.

Background Information:
Kitchen dimensions:
the kitchen itself is about 16.5' x 12'.
Island is
44" x 74".
Dining/kitchen area is about 21' x 17'.

One tip I want to pass on: if you notice the cabinets to the left of my sink because I have three drawers over a pair of two drawers they had to build it as one unit (so less of those seams where one box meets the next). I had originally planned to have the drawers on top the same size as the drawers below but that would have meant two box units instead of one. Just wanted to pass this along. I think if you can find ways to get them to build larger units so you have fewer seams this is good.
