Introduction:
I took down some 80s wallpaper in January 2014 and thought we would just paint, get new laminate counters and a new floor. This evolved into a much more complex project.
We kept our oak Kraftmaid cabinets, chose laminate and the counters were ruined by the guy we hired as he used a dull sawblade and all edges chipped on the formica. He installed them and thought we wouldn't notice.
The long and short of it is, I then chose granite as easier to just pick a slab, well not that easy to find one to go with the oak but fell in love with the creamy color of Absolute Cream and the greenish quartz pieces in it are just perfect.
Then the old appliances looked really old so replaced all of them with black.

Kitchen Highlights:
  • Cabinets - harvest oak Kraftmaid-installed in the early 90s
  • New toe kick -1/2"" 6"" oak stained with two coats Early American and one coat Gunstock and a perfect match to the harvest oak cabinets
  • Absolute Cream granite
  • BS- Jeffrey Court Vintage Studio - 3 x 6 beveled subway - color is called Antique Lace
  • Floor - 16 x 16 vinyl tiles by Shaw- Resort Tile- color Sunlit Sand
  • Sink - Swanstone 70/30 low wave divide- color is Nero (black), Delta- ORB faucet from Lowes
  • Hardware color - Statutory Bronze
  • Chandelier - Quorum Hathaway Black
  • chairs - Overstock dot com - Tribecca MacKenzie

Looks very nice. I am wondering what laminate color you had that was removed before you chose the granite. I have the same cabinets and we are wanting to replace our countertops too.
Thanks.
