Great job! I love all that work space.

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!! You should have your kitchen featured in a magazine - great job! Wow, that must be a fun kitchen to work in!! I love the arched open cabinet and the layout is super.

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Very pretty. It looks like it will be a lot of fun to hang out and work in that kitchen. Congratulations!

o Beautiful and Functional! Great job! Enjoy.

I love it.
Trish

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Breathtaking!!! The marble is stunning. So when are the magazine photographers coming by? Continue to hang out here, or at least check to see that your kitchen has not fallen off the Gallery. I'm sure people will want to see it for years to come.

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

A gorgeous kitchen!! And, if I were one of your 4 kids, I would love to run around in that kitchen and hang out with mom there. Plenty of room for you to work and still have all the gang with you. And, as I orginally wanted marble counters but chickened out....need I say more! Love those counters. I can't wait to see close ups of your backplash, sink area, floor, etc. While I am at the tail end of our remodel (undercounter lighting and backsplash to go), I am sure many, many others would appreciate seeing up close the beautiful details of your kitchen, either just to enjoy the view or get inspiration! Enjoy it for years to come!

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Deb, your kitchen is simply fabulous!!! You know I love the marble - wish more people would see its true beauty and get past the inaccurate commentary on the forum that wae have to read over and over. UGH...but I digress. :o)
Your entire new house is so, so beautiful but wow what a great and huge kitchen for your family to hang out in. It is fabulous - what can I say!
Hey, I love that kitchen table. Is it an antique? I'm having the hardest time finding what I'm looking for but of course I don't have the space you do.
Again, Deb, unbelievably stunning! :o)

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

It is a stunning space. The treatment of the range area is very nice - not closed in or cramped at all.
(20x34 ft is just a few feet less than our entire house!)

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

WOW! This is just beyond words beautiful! I'm jealous...LOL. You have done a fantastic job putting all the details together. This is a gorgeous space to be enjoyed for years. Congratulations on a job truly well done!

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

I LOVE it!! I hope you don't mind that I've saved a copy of your kitchen photos to shamelessly copy at a later date when:
a) I ever build a house
b) Inherit loads of cash
c) Remodel another kitchen
Option "b" would work with both, I guess!
Seriously, yours is one of my all time favorites with those double islands and generous congregating space.
Straight outta the magazines!!

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Your kitchen is outstanding. Two fridges and two islands.. what a luxury! Countertops are gorgeous. How do you find maintaining the marble?

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Deb,
A masterpiece. Though a huge space, it exudes warmth and comfort. I'm sure your family just makes the place sing! (and of course you know I'm a fan of marble, lacanche, etc., etc.!)

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Love the wall color!! Would you please share the brand and color name? Thanks :)

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Double WOWZA!!! Ditto to what Zolablue said, "unbelievably stunning!". Mom, if you'll adopt me, you won't have to step a foot into your kitchen :) I'll do all the cooking, prepping and cleaning...I won't even ask for an allowance! Now how can you turn down an offer like that? :)) Enjoy!!
Monica

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Thank you so much! We are enjoying every minute being in the kitchen (and the rest of the house). It was a year and a half in the building process, but well worth it. We had a wonderful builder.
More info:
Black Knobs & Pulls:
Brand: Top Knobs
Collection: Normandy
Finish: Black Patine
Upper cabs: "Knob" 1 1/4" M602
Drawers: T-Shaped Twist Knob M629
Baking Center Drawers: Drop Handle M686 or M683 (depending on drawer)
Pewter Knobs & Pulls:
Brand: Top Knobs
Collection: Tuscany
Finish: Antique Pewter
Drawers: Large T-Pull M153
Big Drawers: Drop Handles M138
Doors: Contessa M198
First of all, I owe 100% of the knobs/pulls credit to Zolablue. I loved her kitchen selections. I flat-out stole my ideas from her! You know what they say about imitation...! I spent a lot of time on homeclick.com!! Waited for one of the "big" weekend sales!
Paint:
Duron Millenium
Kitchen: Moselle 8184M
Alcove: 1/2 Maison Blanche 8181W, 1/2 Candlebark 8182W
These colors will look khaki brown on the color wheel. But their definitely olive-y on the walls. I was so pleased when the color went up. It goes great with the maple cabs.

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

This is stunning! Are these cabinets alder? I would love to know the wood and stain color. Thanks!

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Deb~
WOW! WOW! WOW!
I've been waiting so long to see your kitchen all finished. I just love everything!
I remember your old house, and I thought that kitchen was really nice (not to mention the awesome putting green!).
This house is breathtaking!
I love the range wall, marble, islands, and especially that beautiful table. Is it an antique?
I hope you and your family enjoy every minute in your wonderful new home!
~Gail

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

One of my all-time favorite kitchens!

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Thank you again!
DuraSupreme Cabinets:
Perimeter:
Door Style: Venice
Wood: Maple
Stain: Coffee Mist
Glaze: Wheat
Islands:
Door Style: Rigel Classic
Wood: Maple
Style: Country Traditions, meaning the "rubbed/worn" look
Color: Black
Hardwood floors:
Wood: Red oak
Stain: Minwax Provincial
Polyurethane: 3 coats of satin
The marble has been easy, easy, easy. I did etch it by letting lime juice get on it. But that was easily hand-buffed out with fine grit sand paper and resealed. I have not stained them...DH is not the best at cleaning up (!) and "foodstuff" has been left overnight. No stains. I also don't baby them at all. I work with doughs, candies, etc, directly on the countertops. It all cleans up nicely. I know where to look, so I can find what we marble lovers affectionately refer to as "patina." No one else who walks in notices a thing. I wish it would photograph how it looks in person. I cannot with my lighting (yes, switching the bulsb to the Reveals...what a difference!), get the warm tones to show up on film. Many of you know I had hung in there up to the bitter end wanting to put soapstone at the range and main sink area. The fabricator couldn't make my builder's deadlines there at the end, so I had to regroup and go all marble. Now, I'm glad I did. No regrets at all!

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Wow! It's incredible... what an awesome space...
Lisa

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

That is flat out beautiful. No kidding, which magazine will you allow to feature your new kitchen? Any one would be privleged to show case such a fabulous space. ENJOY!

o Can I ask about the kitchen table and barstools??

  • Posted by: TnTW (My Page) on Sun, Apr 10, 05 at 22:23
I love the table...perfect size. Antique or purchased somewhere I could find? Also the stools? I'm looking for some that I don't have to wash the covers all the time.
Thanks. Really beautiful.
Trish

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Thank you! I forgot about the table. Yes, it's antique, circa 1850, American farm table. The kids and DH really disliked it at first. "Mom, it's warped and so old." Then we talked about how old it is and thought about what kids their ages might have been doing at the very same table in 1850. "How cool, Mom!" DH is finally warming up to it.
The chairs and stools are both Pottery Barn. They're really comfortable. Got them sight unseen online.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Oh my! This is such a beautiful kitchen - words can't even describe it. Stunning! A true work of art! How great to have so much space - I imagine parties are way easy in this kitchen, especially with 2 SZ's, all those DW's, and all that great counter space. I love the French-ness of it all. The stoves (are there 2 of them?) are the icing on the torte.
Everything is truly breathtaking. It's a jaw dropper, that's for sure. Congratulations on a job well done!!

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Oooooo......It is truly beautiful! I love the marble.

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

What an exquisite kitchen! I LOVE the range area and the colors with the beautiful marble. You've done a wonderful job. Enjoy Enjoy Enjoy!!!!

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Wow! Beautiful and well designed. It's warm and inviting,
which is often hard to achieve.

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

I know I already replied on the other side, but I have got to add my 2 cents here too! I have seen some incredible kitchens on this site, and this one is certainly up at the top. You did such a great job with every detail. It really is stunning. I wish I had just a little bit of your space!
You also have a wonderful style. Very warm and inviting as well as informally elegant.

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Love your kitchen. I've chosen Duron Moselle for our kitchen and family room also. It was great seeing how it looks on an entire room as opposed to a little bitty card! I'm also doing Murray Feiss lighting, but a slightly different collection. I think it's call cervantes, but it's very similar in looks. Loved all your finishes!

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

OH-just gorgeous!! How nice to have so much well designed space. I just spent so much time admiring the details-you should be very proud of such a wonderful kitchen!
Congratulations on an oustanding job!
Rich

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Beautiful!
Deb, what are the dimensions of your prep sink? I have some space constictions in my remodel, and am comtemplating using a farmhouse sink less than 24" wide as my main sink. Your prep sink looks to be less than 24" wide....or has your beautiful and expansive kitchen fooled my sense of scale?
Thanks!
Kelly

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Your kitchen is amazing. I am curious, what type of glass is in the hutch area cabinets? I am trying to decide what kind of glass I want in my cabinets and when I saw your cabs both with the lighting on and without - I realized that's the look I want.

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Thank you!
Kelly...my prep sink is the Shaw Rohl 24" apron front sink on a 24" base cab. It's plenty roomy.
minac...I have "seeded" glass in my cabs. It looks very wavy with random air bubbles. It makes the glass look kind of old, sort of like really wavy lead-glass. Does that make sense?
Thank yu again. Deb

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Deb...what a wonderful space! I was wondering how I missed this but then I looked at the date you posted and I was up to my eyeballs in end of session.
All of it is gorgeouse bit by bit, but what I like is that it really does look like a family kitchen and you ARE a really loving mom to your brood. (Deb is one smart cookie in addition to being a Mom...) I can see that room with a gaggle of children back from a game or scouts etc. AND I can see it with a bunch of teenagers down the road.
Now I really can't wait to see it in the 'flesh'. btw, imho a touch of red really makes it.

 o RE: Momto4Kids Kitchen-About 95% Complete

Deb, I had wondered if that was seeded glass. From glass websites, I thought that was the glass that I wanted for my cabs. Now that I have seen your pictures, I know that's the glass I want.
I hope your kitchen is truly a gathering place and enjoyed by your family. I can see that a lot of hard work went into planning the details.

I know it's been a while since the last post, but I'm a newbie here and just discovered this blog. However, after seeing your absolutely gorgeous kitchen, I can't help but express the same "WOWZA" as others previously! :)

Interestingly enough, I designed my kitchen that is very, very similar to your layout (my islands are slightly different and I have an all-freezer and all-refrigerator together on the same wall as yours, instead of anchored at each end). I'm not sure how often you visit this blog (because it's been so long since the last post) but I wanted to ask you how many feet is between your islands and also around your islands? I designed 4' all the way around my islands and wanted to know if that would be too much, too little or just right?

I've saved all your photos to show my DH and a very belated congratulations on your new, gorgeous kitchen!

Aloha and ciao,
Leilani
